In the journey of life, Corey Unger has been blessed to have had the opportunity to have been a professional athlete, touring musician, business entrepreneur and denominational leader.  Living in Connecticut, he is married to Alicia and they have three children Logan, Tristan and Avery.  Today, Corey now serves as the key facilitator of an emerging network called The Kingdom Heart.  He has a passion for seeing individuals, communities and organizations released into what God is calling them through Kingdom movements and collaborations.  This coming year he is moving into his doctoral studies at Bethel Seminary in Organizational Systems with a desire to develop a framework for Christian leadership in today’s complex world. He will share his testimony of what God has done in his life. Invite any friends or acquaintances to attend. Come and see, and enjoy the testimony and the fellowship. Paul Frederickson  will lead us in praise and worship.

Isaura Mendes is an amazing woman. She lives in Dorchester with her son Steven, and her husband who are also amazing.

Her story is an amazing story of love and forgiveness. Isaura and her husband lost two sons, and Steven  lost two brothers, to violence on the streets of Dorchester, a section of Boston. Instead of blaming everyone else including the police and the people on the streets, they chose a different path.

Their path was not a path of revenge and more violence, but a path of forgiveness and love. Most of us talk about forgiveness like we understand and forgive at a great sacrifice to us. But Isaura Mendes, her son and her husband live the scriptures every day of their lives. They aren’t “hearers of the Word” only. But they are “doers of the Word.” They have put away their hurt and pain and have decided to use it for something good.

These three have decided to live by Matthew Chapter 6. When you pray, “do not pray like the hypocrites”. They live by the Our Father. They live by Mark 11:25 –And whenever you stand and praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Luke 6:31- But love your enemies……For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. They have done this and made it a full time life mission.

Try to imagine losing two members to street violence and not hating those responsible. Do you know someone who has suffered great losses in their lives? They may even blame God. If you haven’t come in a while, or have never thought about inviting someone, now is the time. Maybe a loved one or someone you know or their loved one has lost someone in a terrible tragedy. This time of year is a time of grief and loneliness. Reach out to someone. For anyone who is here because of a tragedy or violence in their life, breakfast will be free.

Ask God who you need to forgive and if He wants you to invite someone that needs to forgive someone so they can have the peace of God in their life.
